Insulating a metal building with spray foam insulation is a fantastic option for many reasons. First, it is the most high performance insulation material available so you know your energy costs will decrease and your building will be comfortable. Spray foam also prevents condensation which can lead to mold and mildew. Closed cell spray foam will actually increase the structural integrity of the building as well as insulate it. Another benefit for applying foam insulation is the speed of application. Many times our install crew can insulate a metal building or pole barn in just 1 or 2 days.
You may be wondering… What type of spray foam should I apply to my metal building?
Open Cell spray foam is a great option. Its the most economical foam insulation product, is an excellent air sealing product and can be installed very fast. Open cell foam also does well preventing condensation and pests.
Another fantastic option is closed cell spray foam insulation. Closed cell foam is very dense, so as we mentioned before it will actually improve the structural strength of the building. Closed cell is extremely efficient. It carries an r-value of 6.9 per inch meaning you can apply as little as 1-2″ and stop up to 95% of energy loss within the building. Closed cell foam is also nearly waterproof, so no problems with condensation!
