St. Louis home complete! Spray foam insulation and cellulose!
Green Space Construction just completed insulating a home with spray foam insulation and cellulose attic insulation, in St. Louis, Mo.
This project was a multi phase project which called for three different types of insulation. The entire home was insulated in 2 phases. Our crew was able to rapidly insulate the entire home within a total of 3 working days.
The first phase of this project consisted of insulating the exterior walls of the home. This home’s walls were constructed of 2×6’s. The homeowner was looking to achieve a high r-value as well as an air tight envelope. After consulting with our in house efficiency expert, the conclusion was made to install 5″ of open cell spray foam insulation. This brought the r-value of the walls to nearly 20! Because open cell foam was installed, not only was the r-value within the wall structure high, the home is now air tight!
After the exterior walls were insulated. Our crew then moved on to the bonus room. This room was located within the garage and needed special attention to make it energy efficient and comfortable. Because the ceiling in the room was near the roof deck, closed cell spray foam was installed at a depth of 3″ to prevent the unwanted energy from the roof from penetrating into the living space. The vertical walls were insulated with 3″ of open cell spray foam and the bonus room floor had 5″ of open cell foam applied to it.
This home is now one of the more energy efficient home’s in the St. Louis area!
